We are a growing ice cream business that specializes in handmade, farm-fresh ice cream.  We are looking for people who are passionate about ice cream, local business and customer service who want to work with us during our busy summer season.   In return for your efforts, you’ll be paid, you’ll get to eat some delicious ice cream, and you’ll make people happy all summer long.

We are hiring two people for management positions and multiple people in other roles.

Operations Manager: This front-of-house manager will work closely with the owner and oversee general day-to-day operations. Duties include:

  • Managing and scheduling front-of-house staff
  • Inventory management/restocking, in partnership with the kitchen manager
  • Managing vehicles/carts (making sure the right people end up at the right place at the right time)
  • Soliciting wholesale clients
  • Managing our catering program and client interaction
  • Filling in on shifts and much more.

This person will have management experience and strong leadership skills. You will need to communicate with staff, owner and customers to ensure that everybody’s needs are met. Potential for longer-term employment.

Production Manager: This back-of-house manager will ensure that all our ice cream meets our high standards. Duties include:

  • Management of production including hands-on work
  • Managing and scheduling kitchen staff and planning for our delivery shifts
  • Working with catering clients on flavor selection
  • Inventory management/restocking, in partnership with the operations manager

This is a very hands-on position which includes developing new flavors and products with room for creativity. It requires someone with management experience, deep responsibility and high standards for kitchen cleanliness and good process.

Ice Cream Slingers: For our three retail locations (storefront and food carts), farmers markets and catering events. Typically working alone, you’ll be in charge of taking orders and serving ice cream and espresso to customers while providing excellent customer service and acting as a cashier for the business (receiving accurate payment and giving correct change).  All this needs to happen fast and with a smile.

Catering and farmers market staff will be responsible for the entire market process: stocking up, getting everything to the market or catering site using our minivan or ice cream truck, setting up, sales, then breakdown and return. These tend to be longer shifts which are a lot of work, but are definitely rewarding. To do this job, you:

  • Are reliable and responsible. You show up when you say you will, you can handle money, you can think on your feet.
  • Can work with little supervision (most shifts you’ll be working solo).
  • Are good with people and use your strong communication and customer service skills to make them happy.
  • Can go with the flow and make do when you face challenges. You are a problem-solver.
  • Can do basic math accurately and quickly.
  • Can lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Have a clean driving record and can provide a copy of your Oregon DMV driving record to us before starting work (this is required in order for you to drive Scoop vehicles.).
  • Are accessible via email, text and phone.
  • Will be in town for most or all of the summer.
  • Want to work and are available for at least several shifts a week, both weekday and weekend. Preference given to people looking for full-time work.
  • Are willing to pick up additional shifts when needed; may be sent home if not busy on occasion. Flexibility is a requirement for all team members.
  • Have or can get a food handler’s card. You are committed to food safety and cleanliness.
  • Can provide at least two professional references who can attest to your abilities and experience.

Ice Cream Maker: Best suited for people with kitchen backgrounds, who are fast prep cooks and used to a busy, hot kitchen. Generally these are 10-hour days. We will be hiring 2 support staff to work with the kitchen manager in 3-4 production days a week to produce all the frozen desserts we sell through retail and wholesale avenues. To excel at this job, you:

  • Work hard and fast – you are production-oriented.
  • Can lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Can do basic math accurately and quickly.
  • Are a helpful and resourceful team member. You anticipate the next tasks and start them without being asked.
  • Are committed to cleanliness and adhere to food safety standards.
  • Will be in town for most or all of the summer.
  • Have or can get a food handler’s card.
  • Can provide at least two professional references who can attest to your abilities and experience.

While many positions will be seasonal, the most outstanding employees will be asked to stay on past summer.
