Our food cart open for businessScoop Handmade Ice Cream was started in early 2010 by former city planner and new mom Amanda Rhoads, who had long felt that Portland was woefully short on fresh-made, artisan ice cream. When her son Oscar was born, she decided to fill that niche herself. After extensive reading, taking an ice cream making course at the University of Wisconsin and finding some amazing deals on Craigslist, Scoop Handmade Ice cream was born.

For the past two years, we’ve been churning out some of the most delicious, freshest small-batch ice cream in Portland. We haven’t yet made the jump to a retail shop, but in the meantime you can find us at the North Station Food Cart Pod, various farmers markets and Lonesome’s Pizza.
